Notes on Babangida's 'conversion'

Slim Notes on Babangida's 'conversion'

Composed by Edwin Madunagu THREE Nigerian public figures, among others, are in my "active file", by which I mean that I treat them as if I am conducting continuous, open-ended researches on them. The three personages are army generals: General Olusegun Obasanjo, General Ibrahim Babangida and General Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Please, I am not making a mistake about Ojukwu or his title and I am not defying anyone's notion of legality. I am simply dealing with historical facts, whatever present… Continue

WHEN DO WE KNOW WE ARE IN ECONOMIC RECESSION BY KIM DAVIS

CHIDUEME CHIBUZOR RAPHAEL JUDE WHEN DO WE KNOW WE ARE IN ECONOMIC RECESSION BY KIM DAVIS

When do we know we are in an economic recession? The indicators are based on a country's gross domestic product (GDP) falling over a six month period, or two successive GDP quarters. A recession can lead to an economic Depression, as was the case in the 1929 and 1930, but in recent history economic recessions have lasted just a short period of time (less than two years). During an economic recession company profits start to fall and this leads to a drop in the value of stock dividends. The 2008… Continue

Noise Pollution By Religious Houses

Umoh Ofofon Noise Pollution By Religious Houses

The menace of noise pollution by some religious houses remains a sore issue in everyday discourse in the land. It is rather regrettable that houses of worship could be constituting themselves as an environmental nuisance. The nagging trend is much more pronounced in Lagos where churches and mosques – the biggest culprits – are almost outnumbering residential apartments and offices. Most residents have to daily bear the decibel of noise billowing from the loudspeakers of churches, and ind… Continue

You see, my people; it's high time we took care of ourselves by being always at alert. The police are not always with us, and as such there is little or even nothing they can do in such situations where we are being preyed upon by evil men and women. We need to submit our daily lives to the higher authority in Heaven. We need to ponder all that we've been reading and hearing in our hearts as base knowledge to use in times of adversity. There has to be perfect awareness as we ride the buses, ride… Continue

PIRACY IS KILLING INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN NIGERIA

SAMSON LIPUKA

PIRACY IS KILLING INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Piracy is nothing new. Hundreds of years ago, pirates used to plunder and steal. They would attack merchant ships and loot them. Those who were lucky were abandoned on isolated islands, and eventually established their own settlements.

In recent years, areas known to be dangerous to ships have been off the coast of Nigeria and the Sea of China. But this did not do much harm to business. What has caused concern is the piracy that is now along the Eastern coast of Africa, perpetuated by Somali renegades.

Somalia has not had a Government for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, it is situated at the mouth of the Red Sea. The Red Sea is an area

now am gon' say that hip hop has gon far and wide, all those symbolic features could mean nothing to them, these are great guys who have done great music, please tell me wat the world would look like if we dont have hip hop, maybe when you attain the level of fame those artiste have , u you start feeling like a grand master, a sinner does not bring joy to a whole lots of people , maybe the music can be deceitful to the youths like loosing interest in your studies, but we still need these music, you are probably not as disciplined as jay, or kanye, they are focused, really focused, understanding the philosophy of music is hard, i am also priveledged to be a rapper and i will say that makin' 13 albums like jay z or in the case of beyounce's effort is not a joke, wat they do they do it without flaws, sometimes rap can be a slip of tongue, most musicians staying together is being stronger and keeping the faith which could be interpreted as anything, where we have destruction is in africa, and the middle east, and not jay, kanye , at the same time nobody stays without a woman or without a man , it would be rite to preach safe sex than preach abstinence , cos nobody is gon abstain not even a religious leader. so enjoy the music and the rythme.

PAUL WHYTE Comment by PAUL WHYTE on October 28, 2009 at 1:33am
I carefully read slims thread and the comments that followed ..yes meticulously...
First things first . .. let me say I do not know for a fact how true these allegations are, cos slim himself was full with a lot of 'maybes' .. these maybes however were taken as facts by most of his moronic followers to say the least.
I have a clear understanding now why God instructed us not to judge and why HE didn't stop there, he also made it a sin to do that....
Some art forms are satanic but not all are..
I also noticed to mu absolute disgust that most of the ppl here are just as satanic and dreadful as the likes of Adolf Hitler, and satan himself! how else can I xplain the fact that (through the comments) you ppl are racist and you have so much convinced yourself that the caucasian are demonic that you even back it up with religion! this is sickly, and I wonder if you feel God will be so proud of you by calling reffering to His creation as the devils own.
Most of you are hypocrites who will believe anything they or hear so far they hear the word Christ, Jesus, God in it..you dont even consider examining the contents,,. the Bible said..seek for the truth and you will find it... it also tells us to be careful, for the wolf will come in sheep clothing.. and many will heal the sick and perform all what nots of miracles in HIS nma,.. yes His name.. but especially African christians and most especially Nigerians .. we are just hypocrites who know nothing and live in fear of not making heaven that we just swallow lots of "whatevers stories we are fed .
Like I said , I really do not care how true these allegations are, mind your business.. live the Devil alone and go and preach the Gospel like He told you to!.. and stop turning the Church to the market place for making money!.

For certain reasons, I had refrained from commenting on the job Charles Soludo did as the Central Bank Governor. Even as I disagreed with most of his policies, I refrained from doing so openly for some reasons that had to do with Soludo’s own position in the power radar of the government he served.
